We are currently recruiting for an Attending Physician at Kristus Darzs Latvian Home in Woodbridge, Ontario.

Overview of Position

• Reporting to the Executive Director and the Medical Director, the Attending physician will provide high quality resident centered medical care as a member of the inter-professional care team

Responsibilities

• Attends the home weekly to provide clinical care to assigned residents
• Addresses resident acute and chronic care needs and provides appropriate and timely documentation
• Identifies circumstances in which palliative and/or end of life care may benefit the resident and family members and works collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Works effectively and efficiently with members of the interdisciplinary team including the medical director to ensure the highest level of care is provided to residents
• Conducts regular medication drug reviews and attends care conferences
• Participates in after hours on-call and responds to calls in a professional and timely manner
• Commits to continuing education related to long term care, care of the elderly, palliative care and dementia care
• Commits to becoming familiar with Point Click Care (EMR system) to document electronically with respect to care of residents in the home.
• Supports continuing education of staff according to best practices.
• Makes recommendations for policy and procedure development in the
• Home to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.

Qualifications

• Medical practitioner licensed to practice medicine in the Province of Ontario and at all times be a member in good standing of the CPSO
• Experience working in Long Term Care preferred
• Ability to build trust and interact in a professional manner with staff, residents, families
